Musculus triceps brachii

Triceps Brachii

The triceps brachii is the large three-headed extensor of the posterior arm and the prime mover of elbow extension, making up roughly two-thirds of upper-arm mass. The long head also crosses the shoulder, so overhead movements (overhead extensions, French press) lengthen and emphasize it, while the lateral head creates the visible horseshoe and the medial head works in all positions. It is the dominant muscle in all pressing and lockout strength, from bench press to dips and pushdowns.

Actions
Elbow extension, Shoulder extension (long head), Shoulder adduction (long head)
Origin
Long head: infraglenoid tubercle of the scapula; Lateral head: posterior humerus above the radial groove; Medial head: posterior humerus below the radial groove
