Musculus brachioradialis

Brachioradialis

The brachioradialis is the prominent forearm muscle that bulges on the thumb side during elbow flexion, working strongest when the forearm is in a neutral (hammer-grip) position. It is the only flexor of the elbow supplied by the radial nerve. In training it is heavily recruited by hammer curls, reverse curls, and any neutral- or pronated-grip pulling, making it key for forearm thickness and grip-adjacent strength.

Actions
Elbow flexion, Forearm pronation to neutral, Forearm supination to neutral
Origin
Lateral supracondylar ridge of the humerus
Insertion
Lateral surface of the distal radius, proximal to the radial styloid process
Innervation
Radial nerve (C5-C6)
Blood supply
Radial recurrent artery
