Bracing one hand and knee on a bench, you row a dumbbell from a stretched bottom position up toward the hip, training each side of the back independently. The unilateral setup allows a long range of motion and corrects left-right imbalances while the bench takes the lower back out of the equation. Drive the elbow back and up, retracting the shoulder blade, and avoid twisting the torso to heave the weight.
