Flexor Carpi Ulnaris

Musculus flexor carpi ulnaris

Flexor carpi ulnaris is the most medial of the superficial flexors, flexing the wrist and pulling the hand toward the little-finger side (ulnar deviation). It is the only wrist flexor innervated by the ulnar nerve and provides a strong anchor for grip and forceful wrist flexion in pulling and carrying. It is loaded by wrist curls and any heavy gripping where the wrist resists radial deviation.

Actions
Wrist flexion, Wrist ulnar deviation (adduction)
Origin

Insertion
Pisiform bone, then via the pisohamate and pisometacarpal ligaments to the hook of hamate and base of the fifth metacarpal
Innervation
Ulnar nerve (C8, T1)
