Snatch

The snatch is the first contested Olympic lift, moving a wide-grip barbell from the floor to overhead in one continuous motion received in a deep overhead squat. It is the most technical barbell lift, demanding explosive triple extension, speed under the bar, and exceptional overhead and hip mobility. Pull the bar close and fast, extend the hips, then punch under into a stable overhead squat and stand to lockout.
