The hang snatch starts the lift from a standing hang at the thigh, isolating the second pull and the speed under the bar without the floor-based first pull. It is a common teaching and power-development drill for the full snatch. Hinge to the hang with a wide grip, drive the hips through explosively, and pull under to catch the bar overhead in a squat or power position.
