Power Snatch

The power snatch receives the barbell overhead in a partial squat above parallel rather than a deep overhead squat, prioritizing bar speed and explosive power over maximal load. It is widely used in athletic development because it reduces the mobility demand of the full snatch. Pull the bar with a wide grip, extend the hips violently, and punch under fast to catch the bar locked out overhead with the hips high.
