The high pull is an explosive triple-extension pull that accelerates a barbell to roughly chest height by driving through the hips and shrugging the traps with high elbows. It builds pulling power and trap and upper-back strength while teaching the second pull of the Olympic lifts. Extend the hips and knees fully, then shrug and pull the elbows up and out to bring the bar high, keeping it close to the body throughout.
