Musculus pectineus

Pectineus

The pectineus is the most anterior adductor, bridging the medial and anterior thigh compartments and acting as both a hip flexor and adductor. Its dual femoral/obturator innervation reflects this transitional role between the flexor and adductor groups. It assists in stabilizing the pelvis during the swing phase of sprinting and contributes to flexion-adduction patterns in kicking and climbing movements.

Actions
Hip flexion, Hip adduction, Hip medial rotation
Origin
Pectineal line (pecten pubis) of the superior pubic ramus
Insertion
Pectineal line of the femur, from the lesser trochanter to the linea aspera
Innervation
Femoral nerve (L2-L3), occasionally the accessory obturator or obturator nerve
Blood supply
Obturator artery and deep femoral artery (profunda femoris)
