Gluteus Minimus

The gluteus minimus is the deepest and smallest of the three gluteal muscles, lying beneath the medius and working with it to abduct and internally rotate the hip. Functionally it acts as a fine pelvic stabilizer during gait and single-leg loading. It is trained alongside the medius through abduction and unilateral lower-body movements rather than in isolation.

Actions

Origin
Gluteal surface of the ilium between the anterior and inferior gluteal lines
Insertion
Anterior surface of the greater trochanter of the femur
Innervation
