The hang clean lifts a barbell from a standing hang position at the thighs to a full front-rack catch in a deep squat, training explosive hip drive without the technical first pull from the floor. It builds posterior-chain power, coordination, and the ability to absorb load in the receiving squat. Hinge to the hang, then drive the hips through aggressively and pull yourself under the bar into a front squat to stand it up.
