Flexor Hallucis Longus Tendon
Tendo musculi flexoris hallucis longi

The flexor hallucis longus tendon runs behind the medial malleolus and beneath the foot to the great toe, powering the final push-off of gait and supporting the medial arch. It glides through a fibro-osseous tunnel behind the ankle where it is prone to tenosynovitis in dancers and runners (“dancer’s tendinitis”). Its health is important for explosive toe-off in sprinting and jumping.
