Erector Spinae Aponeurosis

The erector spinae aponeurosis is the broad common tendon through which the inferior erector spinae and lumbar multifidus anchor to the sacrum, iliac crest, and lumbar spinous processes. It forms a thick aponeurotic sheet over the lower back that blends with the thoracolumbar fascia. As the proximal anchor of the back extensors, it is the load path that transmits erector spinae force into the pelvis during deadlifts and hinges.
