Biotin (vitamin B7) is a water-soluble vitamin that serves as a coenzyme for carboxylase enzymes in fat, carbohydrate, and protein metabolism. The Adequate Intake for adults is 30 µg/day. Deficiency is uncommon and can cause hair loss and skin rashes.
