The Romanian deadlift is a top-down hip hinge with only a slight knee bend, loading the hamstrings and glutes under a long stretch. Push the hips back and slide the bar down the thighs until you feel a strong hamstring stretch, keeping the spine neutral throughout. Stop the descent before the lower back rounds, then drive the hips forward to stand.
