The Last Day of School!
Today was the last day of the first (half) year of school for the kids today. They have all been doing great, and enjoying it for the most part. It has come with some of the typical bad parts of school.
I still end up very busy with supplemental tutoring, and driving them around. I will be even busier this summer. I enjoy working with the, and it has made it much easier to focus on just one or two subjects (primarily math as that is their weakest point in general), as I was very overwhelmed between the combination of 4 kids at 4 different ages, starting homeschooling on my own from scratch, being extraordinarily depressed and busy, etc. et al. So in all in all the school thing has been working well.
The Johnston school district is pretty good. The intrusion of ‘mama bears’ is present but not overbearing yet as far as I know. The Des Moines area is very good for being a chill, high quality place for casual life/living. Johnston is not very diverse, but Des Moines proper next door is more so. I have been doing things with them there to get some broader exposure, and we will be traveling a great deal more.
Celebratory Lunch
To celebrate the last day of school we went to a burger joint the kids are a fan of downtown on University.

I am trying to get keen to the notion that I will be here at least 50% of the time for the next 8/9 years.
