Heloise Making Friends!
It was very sweet yesterday when I picked up the girls from their bus stop.
Heloise was very excited to tell me as soon she got in the van that she needed help getting on Messenger Kids because a friend at school had given their username. She was so very excited, and was happily clutching the little piece of paper her friend had written her username on.
Unfortunately there were technical glitches with getting Messenger Kids setup last night which she teared up about…but I just got it working this morning under our family FB account. I am excited to tell her the news when i pick her up from the bus.
Several times over the last few years of tumult, Heloise has cried to me because she was very sad for not having any friends of her own and near her own age. (as they generally were always shared with Brigetta and were older).
Before and after the divorce Heloise did not have any friends that she had one-on-one time besides me and Kirsten. She really enjoyed her one-on-one time hanging out with Kirsten, but that was intermittent and ended, and of course it was not the same as having peer relationships.
I have and still strive to spend a lot of time with her one-on-one. I too often let her stay up too late, because she loves just being able to hang out with me. She always sleeps in my bed when they are with me. Always reading until very (too) late. She still likes to snuggle.
I am extremely unhappy myself having had to move to Des Moines with no friends, relationships, or tribe to rely on. However seeing the children happy, making friends and pursuing their interests is the one thing that keeps me going here.
I love seeing Heloise excited and happy to have a new friend. She is such a sweet, smart, playful and silly person.
Today we roughhoused for a bit and then she read outside while I shot hoops with Huxley, and then after the basketball game. Theo did too Adventure Cat
