2023-02-09 Another day of school

Another successful day in public school today! The kids enjoy it, are doing well and are starting to establish friendships. It is still in Iowa though…. Erasmus started an additional online course today. He is enjoying school. Although he has come in ‘late’ in a sense, he is very motivated, and has a great attitude. He just registered for an additional online school and is talking about doing so in the summer. He may be able to get a typical diploma in the condensed period of time he has available at Johnston. Huxley is doing great with school as well and really likes it. I hope to see him get more confident and accelerate his progress as I think he can easily handle it. He could get a great deal of college credit done before he graduates if he has the desire. Huxley continues to have some bad luck - he jammed a finger in PE on Tuesday, so I picked him up early and took him to the Dr. A quick X-Ray showed nothing obvious but we await the radiologists opinion. Brigetta is excited for her ‘BizDay’ field trip. It’s a trip to some sort of mock-town where kids take on business/career roles and experiment with buying/selling/working/etc. She was getting her clothes ready last night, and asked if she could get a button down and possibly a tie. Heloise is also doing great. She is following in her Dad’s footsteps and is a busy little reader. Except when she has screen time which predictably supersedes her reading. She selected Hatchet out of our shelf and is reading that currently. I think it is probably the most ambitious book she has chosen so far. I was in 3rd grade when i read my first near adult chapter book as well. Which was the novelization of E.T. - Link

We are off to Target to get a professional shirt for Brigetta’s BizDay field trip. Heloise reads Hatchet as she walks (and shops). Brigetta’s braids. I am going to try to braid her hair this weekend. This is how Heloise usually falls asleep.
