Semitendinosus Tendon

Tendo musculi semitendinosi

The semitendinosus has an unusually long distal tendon that inserts at the pes anserinus on the anteromedial tibia, contributing to medial knee stability and tibial internal rotation. It is one of the most commonly harvested grafts for ACL reconstruction. In training it transmits both hip-extension and knee-flexion loads, so its insertion is a common site of medial-knee overuse complaints.
