Proximal Hamstring (Conjoint) Tendon

Tendo capitis longi musculi bicipitis femoris et musculi semitendinosi

The conjoint tendon is the shared proximal origin of the long head of biceps femoris and semitendinosus on the posterolateral ischial tuberosity, with the semimembranosus tendon attaching just anterior to it. It is the site of high-hamstring (proximal) tendinopathy and avulsion injuries, common in sprinters and lifters performing heavy hip-hinge work. Because the sciatic nerve runs roughly 1 cm lateral to this footprint, proximal hamstring injuries can also irritate the nerve.
