Ligamentum patellae

Patellar Ligament

The distal continuation of the quadriceps tendon, running from the apex of the patella to the tibial tuberosity, completing the knee-extensor chain. It is the structure tested by the patellar (knee-jerk) reflex and is a frequent site of overuse injury — patellar tendinopathy (‘jumper’s knee’) — in athletes performing repeated jumping and heavy quad-dominant lifting.
