Linea Alba

The linea alba is the fibrous midline seam of the abdominal wall, formed where the aponeuroses of the oblique and transversus muscles of both sides interlace between the two rectus abdominis bellies. It runs from the xiphoid process to the pubic symphysis and anchors the flat abdominal muscles. Excessive separation of the recti across it (diastasis recti) reduces core force transfer and is a consideration in postpartum and high-pressure training.
