Gluteus Medius Tendon
Tendo musculi glutei medii
The gluteus medius tendon anchors the chief hip abductor to the lateral greater trochanter and, together with the gluteus minimus tendon, forms what clinicians call the ‘rotator cuff of the hip.’ It transmits the abduction force that stabilizes the pelvis during single-leg stance and gait. Degeneration or tearing here is a leading cause of greater trochanteric pain and a Trendelenburg gait.
