Fibularis Longus Tendon

The fibularis longus tendon passes behind the lateral malleolus, crosses the sole of the foot in the peroneal groove of the cuboid, and inserts on the medial cuneiform and first metatarsal base. This unique route lets it both evert the foot and brace the transverse and lateral arches. It is a key passive and dynamic stabilizer against inversion ankle sprains.
