Conjoint Tendon

The conjoint tendon is the merged lower attachment of the internal oblique and transversus abdominis as they insert onto the pubic crest and pecten pubis. It reinforces the posterior wall of the inguinal canal behind the superficial ring. Strain or weakness here is implicated in athletic groin injuries (“sports hernia”) common in rotation- and cutting-heavy sports.
