The step-up drives the body up onto an elevated box or bench using one leg, combining knee and hip extension to build unilateral quad and glute strength with high carryover to daily movement and athletics. Set the box so the working thigh starts near parallel, drive through the whole front foot, and stand tall without pushing off the trailing leg. Lower under control rather than dropping back down.
