The single-leg dumbbell calf raise loads one leg by holding a dumbbell on the working side while balancing on the ball of that foot on a block or step. It needs no machine, exposes imbalances, and demands ankle stability and balance through the lift. Use light hand support if needed, drop the heel into a full stretch, then drive high onto the toes and pause at the top.
