The Russian twist is a seated rotational core exercise where the torso turns side to side, typically over an elevated, balanced trunk, to train the internal and external obliques. It can be loaded with a medicine ball, dumbbell, or plate to increase the rotational demand. Sit with the feet up and torso leaning back, rotate from the trunk rather than just the arms, and move with control to each side without rounding the lower back.
