Donkey Calf Raise
Bent-Over Calf Raise · Hip-Hinge Calf Raise
MachineBodyweight MachinesCalisthenics
The donkey calf raise is done bent forward at the hips with load draped across the lower back or hips while the balls of the feet rest on a block. This hip-flexed, straight-knee position places the gastrocnemius under a strong stretch, which many lifters find produces an excellent contraction. Hinge the torso, avoid bending the knees, and move slowly through the deepest available range.
