The box squat lowers under control to a box or bench set at a target depth, pausing briefly before driving back up. Sitting back onto the box emphasizes the posterior chain and glutes and teaches consistent depth and a vertical shin. Stay tight on the box without relaxing or rocking, then explode up out of the bottom.
